The 2024 FIA Formula One World Championship, contested over a record twenty-four Grands Prix, saw Max Verstappen secure his fourth consecutive Drivers' Championship title. While Verstappen of Red Bull Racing initially dominated, McLaren's Lando Norris emerged as a strong competitor, but Verstappen ultimately clinched his individual title at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
In a dramatic turn, McLaren surpassed Red Bull to win their ninth Constructors' Championship at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, their first such title in 26 years, narrowly beating Ferrari by just 14 points and becoming the first non-Red Bull or Mercedes team to win since 2009. Notably, Verstappen's Drivers' Championship was unique, making him only the third driver in history to win while his team did not secure the Constructors' title or finished third or lower. The season also featured Formula 2 talent Oliver Bearman making an impressive Formula One debut for Ferrari at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, substituting for Carlos Sainz Jr. due to appendicitis, and later racing for Haas.
